King Neptune Statue on the Boardwalk

King Neptune is a colossal 34-foot-high bronze statue that rises from the depths of the Atlantic Ocean at 31st Street & Atlantic Avenue, overlooking Neptune Park. The King Neptune statue was built in honor of the Neptune Festival, which is a local festival held each September. Volunteers of the popular annual Neptune Festival wanted a statue that honored the festival.

The Virginia Beach fishing pier is a very popular attraction and fishing spot. The pier is located on 15th street and the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The approximately 1,000-foot-long pier is in the heart of the resort area. It has a bait-and-tackle shop with rod-and-reel rentals, and a snack bar/restaurant. No fishing license required. Hours vary by season. Pier operates from April through October and is open 24 hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day. A small fee is charged to walk onto the pier without fishing.

What is summer without beaches and boardwalks! During the busy summer season the boardwalk hums with pedestrians, cyclists, and joggers taking in the shops and beach along this scenic, oceanfront boardwalk and bike path. The Virginia Beach Boardwalk has a 28-feet wide boardwalk that stretches three miles and a features a separate bike path for rollerblading, biking or surrey rentals. Baby carriages and strollers are allowed on the boardwalk. The bike path is reserved for bicycles and surreys.
