In fact, his original was Hu-Mungus, but was later changed to Hugh Mongous. This Happy Beach Gorilla Dude is super tall, 45 feet to be exact, and he weighs 11,000 pounds. That’s one mighty monkey!
Hugh Mongous was born in June 1977 and the big ape was so popular when the park opened that local newspapers occasionally wrote featured articles about the jolly gorilla dude. Be sure to check him out in person, he’s a smiling big fella. And don’t forget to take a selfie with Hugh Mongous, what better way to capture the moment and it’s a perfect instagram-worthy photo op.
