The Virginia Beach Fishing Pier is a very popular attraction and fishing spot. The pier is located on 15th street and the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The approximately 1,000-foot-long pier is in the heart of the resort area. It has a bait-and-tackle shop with rod-and-reel rentals, and a snack bar/restaurant. No fishing license required. Hours vary by season. A small fee is charged to walk onto the pier without fishing. Visitors love the pier because of the panoramic views it provides and witnessing all the fish caught off the pier. Parking is available at cost right in front of the Pier along Atlantic Blvd.

Fishing Pier Hours and Fees:
2024: $4 per person to enter the pier.
2024: $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12 to fish off the pier.
You can rent fishing gear at the pier.

Are sharks common around the Virginia Beach Pier?
The most common sharks in Virginia include juvenile Sandbar sharks, which can get up to 8 feet in length. Other common sharks include Atlantic sharpnose, smooth dogfish, and dusky shark. Juvenile sandbar sharks are common to abundant in the Bay during this time of year. Don’t worry about a sandbar shark, smaller species or juveniles are known to be docile and sharks are more scared of humans than anything. The chances of seeing a shark in Virginia Beach is very rare.
